Determination of the Moment of Inertia of Limb Segment Using a Dynamometer

چکیده
In this study, we introduced a simple method to determine the moment of inertia using a dynamometer. In order to evaluate the developed method, one male was required to test for his forearm including the hand on a dynamometer. In the process of finding moment of inertia, three different passive speeds, i.e. 240°/s, 270°/s, and 300°/s, were performed to confirm whether the calculated values at the different speeds approach to a single constant value. The calculated values were compared with the value referenced from previous study. The result showed that the values of moment of inertia of the forearm were similar to the reference value. This finding would be helpful to calculate segmental rotation related parameters of an individual.

Modification of the Euler load for the stiffened compressive members and determination of the optimal stiffening for the maximum buckling load
The potential of buckling in compressive members has been considered as a disadvantage when using steel members in the construction industry. In spite of the progress made in this regard, buckling is still considered as a challenge in the analysis and design of compressive steel structural members. Such a challenging phenomenon can be controlled by strengthening of compressive members. Stiffene...

In this study, a simple method based on the dynamic equation of motion was introduced to determine the moment of inertia using a commercial dynamometer, and an optimization technique was utilized to estimate inertial parameters with the determined moment of inertia. To evaluate the feasibility of the developed method, three different passive speeds (i.e. 240, 270 and 300°/s) were chosen to conf...
متن کاملPrediction of effective moment of inertia for hybrid FRP-steel reinforced concrete beams using the genetic algorithm
Abstract: The use of Concrete beams reinforced with a combination of fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) and steel bars has increased dramatically in recent years, due to improvement in strength and flexural ductility simultaneously. In this paper, we proposed a new equation for estimating the effective moment of inertia of hybrid FRP-steel reinforced concrete (RC) beams on the basis of the...

Fragility curves represent the probabilities that structural damages, under various levels of seismic excitation, will exceed the specified damage states by means of earthquake intensity damage relations. Conceptual aspects related to seismic vulnerability, damage and risk evaluation are discussed first, together with a short review of the most widely used possibilities for the seismic evaluati...

An analysis of selected fission fragment angular distributions from helium-ion induced fission is made using an exact theoretical expression. Theoretical anisotropies obtained with the transition state model are compared with their corresponding values deduced from the statistical scission model. The nuclear moment of inertia extracted from the model calculations are compared with their est...
